The 30^th of July marked the 4^th annual cricket fixture between the Oakham Gentlemen and the Suffolk Swingers, with the scores now being tied at two all. The Gents lost the toss and were put into bat, and after quick fire innings from Ben Taylor and Geroge Bland supported by Julius Timmermans blocking out – they made a respectable 172, limping over the line with strong bowling performances from Harry Fairs and Wilf Sheepshanks.

The Swingers started very slowly after Hoppy was on fire with the ball, taking an impressive 4 wickets throughout the match but continued to score well after a few beers had caught up to Eddie Dickens behind the stumps. The game was ultimately won after a great innings from Rory Hollis, scoring the winning runs in the last over to lead the Suffolk Swingers to their second consecutive victory.

Post-game, we all enjoyed some beers, and some man of the match boat races for either side. We look forwards to next year’s game to see who will take the lead in the series. A special thank you to Easton CC for hosting.
